That's really weird. However if the conduit is on the Prime and the person is ethereal then I would say they they would not trigger the conduit as they are not really on the same plane as the mouth of the conduit, unless the magic of the conduit is such that it is present on both the prime and the (border) ethereal in the same place. If they went through one they would be bodily transported to the Astral plane (as opposed to sending thier astral body). Conduits directly from the ethereal to the Astral are rare. Somebody who is in ethereal form has a body that exists in the border ethereal plane, with some impingment on the prime. Two surprise in one for the PC!Īlso, and I know it could be a different topic, what happen to someone whose form is ethereal (by use of magic item) and entering the astral plane by a portal or conduit ? They got me here.Īlso, and I know it could be a different topic, what happen to someone whose form is ethereal (by use of magic item) and entering the astral plane by a portal or conduit ? They got me here I was thinking on a little adventure here even if it looked as a trap. While being on the astral, do you think he's frozen in place or he's allowed to travel within the plane ? May be searching for another exit or a portal ? Well, but while in the astral plane, would you allow the PC to cast a spell to go back to the prime ? Using Planeshift or teleport without error ?ĭo you think his concentration is too much impaired to not allow a chance to cast at all ? Is he dependant to the competence of his external comrades ? I mean, dispelling one teleport as the only solution. It's a variation of your trap but one with a chance of escape. The description of your trap however reminded of one of my favorite traps from a TSR classic adventure: The Pits of Everfall from I2 'Oasis of the White Palm'. This of course means that a trap such as the one that you described would leave the character stranded in the astral plane. Sir Clarence wrote:My understanding of teleportation has always been that it happens in zero-time which means that you're instantly moved from one place to another with no time in between. Knowing this, I submit again my interrogations, and sex doesn't matter. So the PC doesn't have any time to make a step on any carpet (save the first who started this all) because he's instantly teleported back and forth, thus being in the middle of nowhere. But since carpet A is enchanted to teleport to carpet B, the PC is instantly teleported back as soon as he came.Īll the surface of both carpets are the teleport fields, not only a point on it. Since carpet B teleports to carpet A, the PC is instantly teleported on carpet A. The PC walk on the carpet A and is instantly teleported to carpet B. The teleportation on it leads to carpet A. The teleportation on it leads to carpet B.Īnother teleportation spell with permanency is cast on another identical carpet who is placed at a good distance from the first one, let's say 50 foot. More details here :Ī teleportation spell is cast on a circular carpet of 6 foot radius.
